Ruth Foster-Koth, LICSW

I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience. In addition to my private practice, I am employed at Northwest Hospital’s Weight Management Clinic. I have guest lectured within the University of Washington’s schools of Social Work, Public Health and Medicine.  I obtain regular clinical consultation and participate in continuing education to maintain expertise and professional accountability. In my role as a therapist, I help people achieve work/life balance. I specialize in treating people with anxiety/depression, complex medical diagnoses and patterns of disordered eating. Clients I work with have reported an improved sense of self while building more meaningful personal and professional relationships. The coping mechanisms you learn and practice in our sessions may continue to be helpful after we complete our work. I look forward to hearing from you and working collaboratively with you to reach your goals.

I draw elements from the following clinical orientations:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
  • EMDR
  • Functional Analytic Psychotherapy
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Psychodynamic Theory
  • IFS-Internal Family Systems

For some people, religious and spiritual beliefs and practices can be a deep part of their story. While I do not attempt to change anyone’s spiritual beliefs, I want to support your healing journey, so please feel free to identify what is important for me to know about you. My professional goal is to help you achieve a sense of well-being and ease in your daily life.
